This page provides you with my progress throughout the process of writing drafts for my narrative project, as well as, the final product. My goal in mind was to keep my blog posts separate from my narrative project so that way I could have more content for my blog and more stories to be told. Although blog post #5, "Composing a Past Scene," and 6, "Composing a Past Scene: Part Two" are going to be completely different from my project, those posts, as well as #3 and 4, ("Composing a Present Scene" and "Composing a Present Scene with Dialogue and Symbolism") helped me practice revising techniques, making improvements, developing good quality scenes and asking myself questions about my work to help me going forward with my project.
After just completing my second draft, I can only help but reflect on how the alternative outcome made me process my first draft and look at it differently. The alternative I chose was what would realistically happen if I had never been told to leave my home and the quality of life I'd still be living. Due to the complication of the situation, the alternative, looking at my real experience and the state I'm in now, wound up being a more negative impact on my life than the actual event. It also made me realize I'm not as satisfied as I could be with the setup of my first draft. For more details about this and reflection on my drafts/alternative decision, check out my ninth blog post, "Exploring Counterfactuals," a video blog.
